The estate achieved worldwide recognition when its Cabernet Sauvignon triumphed at the historic 1976 Judgment of Paris tasting, helping establish California as a serious competitor to the finest wines of Bordeaux.
ARTEMIS takes its name from the Greek goddess of the hunt, reflecting the winery's pursuit of outstanding Cabernet Sauvignon grapes from across Napa Valley. Unlike the estate's single-vineyard wines, ARTEMIS brings together fruit from carefully selected vineyard sites, creating a wine that expresses the richness and diversity of Napa Valley while retaining the distinctive elegance associated with Stag's Leap Wine Cellars.
The result is a sophisticated, full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon that combines generous dark fruit, polished tannins and carefully judged oak influence. Winemaking: ARTEMIS is predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by small proportions of other Bordeaux grape varieties to enhance complexity and balance. Following fermentation, the wine is matured in French oak barrels, introducing subtle notes of spice, chocolate and cedar without overwhelming its concentrated fruit character.
Vineyards: The grapes are sourced from selected vineyards across Napa Valley, combining fruit from different growing areas to achieve richness, structure and freshness.
