Raasay ‘The Chinkapin’ whisky is the third of the core Raasay whisky collection, and as with each of them, offers something a little different.
The casks used for this whisky are Chinkapin oak, a rare type of virgin oak that is rarely used in whisky making, but that brings incredible flavour to the finished drink. It brings a little wood smoke, some rich barbecue notes, and plenty of savoury spiciness.
Raasay Chinkapin is made using their unique six cask recipe which brings a very light peatiness together with sweet notes of Maple syrup with a refreshing citrus flavour.

About
Peated and unpeated spirit matured separately in a selection of fresh refill Chinkapin oak casks, vatted together to create the Raasay signature lightly peated style of single malt.
Notable: Chinkapin oak is a North American white oak that brings rich flavours and a depth to our Raasay whisky that the much more common industry standard Quercus alba doesn’t bring.
