Tasting Notes
Inky dark, smooth and spicy in a nutshell describes Leftfield Malbec. Ripe blackberry on the nose leading to a rich palate with hints of liquorice and chocolate showing through on this delightfully dry wine.
About
Malbec is thought of as an Argentinian or French wine, but the climate of Hawke's Bay is perfect for this grape and Leftfield have delivered a fantastic example here.
This early-drinking Malbec was aged for 18 months in French oak barrels to gain complexity and structure. Blended from two parcels of fruit, picked in the early morning, from the Te Awa Gimblett Gravels vineyards, fermentation takes place in steel tanks prior to maturing.
